Massapequa Police Activity League Spring / Summer 2006 Registration4/17/06 - Police Officer Maureen Roach of the Nassau County Police Activity League – Massapequa Unit is pleased to announce the Spring / Summer 2006 Program lineup which includes Boy’s Baseball, Girl’s Softball, a Beginner’s Lacrosse Clinic, Karate, Tennis and a wide variety of Summer Bowling programs. A Boy’s Baseball program for those in grades K – 7 will run from July thru August. Games will be played on weeknights beginning at 5:30 pm and on Saturdays. Registration is $75 per person. All participants will receive a full uniform and a participation award at season’s end. Those who are planning to play on a tournament team for any other summer league should not sign up for PAL Summer Baseball. A Girl’s Softball program for girls in grades K – 9 will run during July and August. Games will be played on weeknights beginning at 6 pm and on Saturdays. Registration is $75 per person. All registrants will receive shorts, softball jersey, hat and a participation award at season’s end. A special six-session Lacrosse Clinic will start on Monday evenings beginning in early May. This program is geared to beginning lacrosse players who are in grades K, 1 and 2 (as of January 1st, 2006). Managed by experienced lacrosse coaches, this program focuses on basic lacrosse fundamentals for young lacrosse players. Players must bring their own stick and a parent or guardian must remain in attendance during the clinic sessions. Registration is $50 per person. All players will receive a Lacrosse Clinic T-Shirt and a participation award at the completion of the clinic. P.A.L. Bowling offers a large variety of summer programs including Bumper Bowling for boys & girls ages 4 - 7, Junior Bowling for ages 8 -11, and Teen Bowling for ages 12 & up. All bowling sessions will begin on June 26th. It is with great excitement that we will be bringing back our popular 10-week “Have a Ball Program” for ages 4 – 16. All participants will receive a custom drilled bowling ball and bag at the completion of this special program. The cost of the “Have a Ball” program is $12 per week. We are proud to partner with Massapequa Bowl, 4235 Merrick Rd. (corner of Hicksville Rd.) in Massapequa who will once again host our bowling activities. Participants can register at Massapequa Bowl on Monday, May 1st, Wednesday, May 3rd and Thursday, May 4th from 4pm to 6pm. The registration fee for all programs is $15, payable by cash or check made out to Massapequa PAL. Call P.A.L. Bowling Coordinator Lou Anthony at Massapequa Bowl (516) 541-8000 for schedules and other information. The P.A.L. Tennis Program features both beginner and advanced beginner tennis instruction for boys and girls in grades 1 thru 12. P.A.L. Tennis is held at Massapequa Sportime, 5600 Old Sunrise Highway in Massapequa. Tennis instruction is ongoing throughout the entire year with new programs beginning approximately every two months. The registration fee is $95 for each six-week program. Checks should be made out to Woodmont Sports. Registration for our Summer Tennis sessions only will take place on Thursday, May 18th from 5 to 7 pm; and on Saturday, May 20th from 10 am to noon at the Massapequa P.A.L. office (see address and directions below). Summer Karate is an instructional program for ages 7 & up. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 8:30 pm beginning in July. The registration fee is only $50 for this program. Registration for Boy’s Baseball, Girl’s Softball and the Lacrosse Clinic will be held at the Police Activity League – Massapequa Unit Clubhouse at 510 Parkside Blvd. (northeast corner of the Massapequa train station) on Thursday evenings, April 27th and May 11th from 6 pm to 9 pm; and on Saturday mornings, April 29th and May 13th from 9 am to 12 noon. Regular Lacrosse Clinic registration will only be available on April 27th and April 29th since the program starts the following week. Late registration fees will be charged for any registrations (if available) after these days so please be sure to register during these sessions if you are interested.
